Forensic Sciences Department

The Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Madurai was established on 06.07.1974. At present this laboratory is offering services to the Revenue/Police districts of Madurai, Dindigul and Theni pertaining to Biology, Narcotics, Prohibition and Toxicology cases; DNA and Serological cases received from Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Thenkasi Districts. This laboratory encompasses all the districts under the jurisdiction of the Honourable High Court of Madras, Madurai Bench. This laboratory also imparts training to in-service forensic scientists, Police Personnel and Medical Officers. It organizes in house seminars and guest lectures on the recent trends in Forensic Science.
